Taxonomic notes

Two varieties, pseudostrobus and alpulcensis (2). Variety pseudostrobus is further divided into forma pseudostrobus and forma protuberans Martínez 1948.

Synonyms for the type forma include P. orizabae Gordon 1846; P. protuberans Roezl 1857; P. angulata Roezl 1857; P. regeliana Roezl 1857; P. pseudostrobus var. estevezii Martínez 1945; P. estevezii (Martínez) Perry 1982; P. pseudostrobus var. coatepecensis Martínez 1945; P. pseudostrobus var. alpulcensis (Lindley) Martínez 1945 non Shaw 1909; P. pseudostrobus subsp. alpulcensis (Lindley) sensu Stead 1984; P. pseudostrobus forma megacarpa Loock 1950; P. nubicola Perry 1987; and P. pseudostrobus var. laubenfelsii Silba 1990 (2).

Synonyms for var. alpulcensis include P. alpulcensis Lindley 1839 and P. pseudostrobus var. oaxacana Martínez 1945 (2).
